Happy New Year! I hope you all had an amazing NYE weekend and ready to start this New Year with goals and aspirations. Although this look was shot a couple weeks ago (in 2016) this is my firststyle post of 2017. One goal I set for myself style wise was to be more daring with my wardrobe this year. I want to try new styles but still staying true to myself of course. So, "that color" or "that style" that I never thought to try because I didn't think it would work for me I'm going to try it this year. Fashion is all about taking risk and that's something I want to do this year.

This red statement coat is an oldie in my wardrobe but it's one of my favorites because it's different. The color and the structure are bold! It has such a large collar and a fit & flare cut on the bottom. I paired it with black and white underneath and it made the coat pop even more. That's exactly what I was going for. I layered a crisp white collard shirt over a sleeveless houndstooth print top. The prints paired well together with the bold red.
Investing in a statement coat for the winter is a must have. It elevates your look when you are forced to wear layers on layers from the cold weather. Weather it's a statement color, print or style it's a must have for your wardrobe. I've been fortunate enough that the winter weather in D.C. hasn't been horrible. So fingers crossed to avoiding a brutal winter.
What are your thoughts on owning a statement coat?
