Happy Mother's Day!

Mother's day, mom bloggers, mom blog, stylih moms, happy mother's day, parenhood, momslove, new mom, motherhood.

"Moms are the superheros of the world"

Happy Mother's Day to all the super moms today. It's my first official Mother's Day, given I was pregnant last May and Leah was still cooking in my belly. Being a mom has changed my life so much. It's one of the hardest yet rewarding jobs I've ever had. When I was pregnant I seconded guessed myself all the time and wonder will I be a good mom, will I know what to do, will I know all the answers. I think I was consume with trying to be the perfect mom because I always try to be the best at everything I do in life. However, this mom job is different. There's no such a thing as a perfect parent and when Leah was born it just kind of came natural to me on what's best for her and how to be her mom.

Everyday seeing Leah grow up before my eyes sometimes just makes me want to cry to knowing I gave birth to this cute, funny, and sweet little human. This title requires a lot of patients and selfless decisions. I appreciate my mom and grandmother who raised me 100 times more now. I knew being a mom wasn't the easiest thing but I never understood it until I became one.

So if you're a mom of one, a mom of 10, a step mom, a foster mom, all moms happy Mother's Day!  I hope all you super moms enjoy today exactly how you want! In case nobody has told you: you are doing a great job and you are a great mom!

Happy Mother's Day super moms!

Kick Start Summer In This Outfit

Kick Start Summer In This Outfit

femmeluxe, luxegal, summerstyle, summer outfit ideas, jumpsuit, black and white outfits, diffeyewear, clear bag trend, mom blogggers, stylish moms

Am I the only one who gets into the best mood ever when the weather is amazing? Summer hasn't officially started but over here, in The DMV the weather is just screaming summer. I really wish the pools were open already because that's what this weather makes me want to do. Today's look is a simple yet chic look that's perfect for the start of the awesome summer temperature! This pinafore dress from Femme Luxe is something very different from everything I own in my wardrobe. The frill detail is my favorite and it's honestly what made me gravitate towards this piece. Black and white is such a classic color combo together and that's what I did with this look. For a little pop of color and summer vibes I added a dusty hot pink lip. It's hard to see because of the way I edited my photos but I promise is a bright dusty pink. Ha! I, also, added a trendy piece like this transparent clutch which I've seem to have been wearing so much. It's my current favorite trend. As always I love envisioning re-wearing pieces and I immediately though of re-wearing this in the fall with otk boots. I love taking pieces through every season and challenging myself to re-style them over and over. It's honestly the best thing to do when you want to maximize your wardrobe.

This pinafore dress is currently on sale! Check it out here and also more of Femme Luxe's trendy dress collections! How would you style a pinafore dress for the summer?

Comfortable In My Own Skin

dc bloggers, visit richmond, femme luxe, spring outfit ideas, sweater dress

dc bloggers, visit richmond, femme luxe, spring outfit ideas, sweater dress

Lately I've been getting so many comments saying I look great and that "the snapback is real". I promise you there's no snapback over here. I have been a blogger for 6 years so trust that I have experience in posing in front of a camera. I'm still a mom who had a baby 9 months ago, who wears spandex under her clothes,  and is trying hard to find time to workout and struggles with this new body. I must say I have been more comfortable in my own skin and I think that has been showing so much!

It's been a while since I've worn a hugging bodycon style dress and I'm so in love with this midi ribbed sweater one from Femme Luxe. Midi dresses are my jam and it's the first one I've worn that's body hugging since giving birth. This one is so comfortable and perfect for spring. I will definitely will be wearing this one again with sneakers! Femme Luxe has a ton of dresses and lounge wear sets. Definitely worth trying! You can get mine here and it comes in a ton of colors.

I have been trying hard to find time the time to work out. I can't stick to a schedule like I use to before because #momlife but I try to walk a lot with Leah and I also have been avoiding my elevator when I walk my dog every day. So 5 flights of stairs up and down everyday have been my way of getting some type of workout. Anything counts right? I'm nowhere near my pre baby weight self or my weight goal but I do eat healthier and also feel lighter. I think being comfortable in my own skin and not rushing to get to set number on the scale because society says so is shinning through.

Light Spring Layers

fashion bloggers, mom bloggers, lookbookstore, stylish moms, streetstyle

Over the last week the weather has been, let's just say Mother Nature can't make up her mind. It was nice and warm in the beginning of the week then it turned into very chilly days towards the end of the week. My wardrobe is seasonal confused. Lol! I'm still keeping some layers in the front of my closet like this open front knit cardigan from Lookbook Store. It's really cozy and perfect for those breezy spring days. I'm not big in the cardigan department but this one is perfect because you can pretty much layer it over anything like a dress, skirt, or denim like I did. I was going for a very casual laid back look which I'm totally into lately.

Every time I wear these pearl denim I get so many comments about them. I love wearing them a lot and maybe it's because it's one of my two old jeans that fit me perfectly postpartum. They paired perfectly with this chunky knit cardigan.

Are you guys into casual relaxed looks this spring?

Classic vs. Trendy | One Jumpsuit Two Ways

FemmeLuxe, jumpsuit, remix outfit, Coral jumpsuit, one piece, romper, streetstyle, stylish mom bloggers, summer outfit ideas, fanny pack trend

One of my favorite things to do is to style one item different ways. I've always said that's the best way to maximize your wardrobe.  Today's look I'm sharing one amazing ribbed jumpsuit from FemmeLuxe and I'm styling it two ways: classic vs. trendy. I'm smitten over this burnt orange jumpsuit because it fits real comfortable and it's very light weight which works perfect for spring and summer. Femme Luxe has a ton of amazing pieces and sets like these lounge wear sets and these ribbed lounge wear sets

Classic

A blazer is such a classic piece and it's something I think everyone should have in their wardrobe. I feel a wardrobe is not complete without at least one! This one is one of my favorite blazers because it was one of my best thrift finds so far. Yes, I paid $12 for it! The accessories like the simple watch, big frame sunglasses, and small structured bag gave this look a more polished and classic feel.

Trendy

To change up the look to a more fun and relaxed vibe I complete changed my hair and added accessories. This fanny pack is super trendy and complete changed the jumpsuit. I also added skinny cat eye sunglasses for a more fun look. These small accessories made a big difference!

This Mother's Day is so special to me because it is the first official one that I am a mom. Ever since I became a mom it has made me appreciate my mom even more. So much time, dedication, and love goes into raising a child and I know that firsthand now. I didn't live with my mom growing up but we always had a special relationship. She made a tough decision of letting my grandmother raise me while she got on her feet and got an education. I've always told you guys my grandmother is my second mom because I grew up with her and that's the reason why. I'm the oldest of my sisters and I've seen my mom raise two beautiful and intelligent ladies.

I love my mom so much and this Mother's Day I'm gifting her a Mothers Daughters Heart Charm Bangle Bracelet from Kohl's fine jewelry collection! My mom loves wearing all types of jewelry and accessories (I guess I get that from her) and this bracelet is perfect for her. It has three cute charms and one has a mother daughter inscription inside. I love gifts that have a personal touch and, if you are looking to gift a special lady in your life this Mother's Day, Kohl's has so many amazing options to choose from in their fine jewelry collection.

One of the things I love about shopping at Kohl's is that they always have amazing sales. From 4/24- 4/28 they will be having 70-75% off fine jewelry in selected styles. You can find a great gift for Mother's Day at a great price. Also: don't forget Kohl's Cash, a system of rewards redeemable on merchandise that you can earn based on how much you spend.

A Casual & Comfy Spring Outfit

Spring fashion, spring outfit ideas, streetstyle, mom bloggers, fashionable moms, lookbookstore

Lately I have been all about comfort and today's look is a mix of casual and comfy. I received this front twist long sleeve top from Lookbook Store and honestly had no idea what to do with it. I tried it with jeans and it just looked frumpy. I hate when you love a piece and it just doesn't look how you styled it in your head. Has that ever happened to you? After trying a few different things I found this red skirt hidden behind my closet and it just kind of gave the top a whole new vibe. I didn't realize how great the two colors paired and coincidentally I matched with the floor of the shoot's location. To spruce up this casual look a bit the excessive hair pins which are trending gave the look a little trendy touch. I'm honestly obsessed with that hair trend.

If you are new here or missed my announcement a few weeks ago on Instagram, I launched my Youtube channel! It's something I have been wanting to do for a while and I'm happy it finally came to life. You can subscribe here! I created an entire video with many hair styles using these bobby pins. You can check out that video here.

Festival Fashion | A Festival Inspired Look

Festival outfit ideas, festival fashion, cochella, cochella fashion, cochella looks, what to wear to cochella, sheingals, shein festival, festival season

It is festival season and that means our social media feeds have been overflowed with Coachella pictures. I love the music and I most definitely love the fashion but being in a huge mosh pit crowd would probably give me huge anxiety. I've seen a lot of people complain about their feeds being intruded with massive Coachella posts but I honestly enjoy seeing the fashion. I love the cool hippie fashion vibes this festival showcases.

In the spirit of festival season today's look is a festival inspired look. I never got a chance to wear this dress last summer when I ordered it because my pregnant belly was growing fast. I love the open slits and works perfect for the festival vibes I was going for. Coachella style looks are all about accessories and the round frame sunglasses, wide brim hat, extra bangles and necklaces compliment the look perfectly. Honestly the more accessories the better. Fashion to me is art and I love experimenting with different styles and looks.

Are you guys into Coachella or just like to see the fashion like me?

Date Night Outfit Idea + My First Date With My Husband

datenight outfits, jumpsuit, spring outfit ideas, spring styles, spring trends, lookbook store, national harbour

Date night these days has been a little different since becoming parents. We still try to make the best of it though. We try to take advantage of any time we can to try and have those little moments together. We have gone out to eat with Leah even when we don't have a sitter and I'm so grateful she's a very good baby because she doesn't become fussy while out. It's still nice to go out just the two of us and when my mom and sister came to visit a few weeks ago we made plans to go out just the two of us and guess what... we decided to stay home and just rest instead. Haha! Parent life.

When those few date nights do happen I love to dress up. Any opportunity to dress up I'll take it. This navy ruffle jumpsuit from LookBook Store is a perfect date night outfit. It's sexy, chic, and comfortable! I was a little afraid of how it would fit with my postpartum body but I love the fit. The length is a bit long but I decided to roll with it. I love that it made me look super tall. I can't even say my photographer shot at an angle, it's just the way the jumpsuit looks on me that makes me look elongated and I love it! The material is super soft and breathable. I also love the ruffle details. It definitely gives it a nice little flirty touch which is why I love this jumpsuit for a date night outfit idea. Would you wear this as a date night look?

                                                                  _________________

Speaking of date night I thought this would be a great time to share my first date with my husband. All first dates always have a good story. I've written about my husband before here so if you are new here you can get to know him in this post and this post!

On June 3rd, 2011 I went on my very first date with my husband. I picked him up in my car since I was the only one driving at the time and we headed to downtown New York City. It's never a good idea to drive into NYC but we did anyway and parked on the street. We ate at Southern Hospitality, which is Justin Timerlake's restaurant and it's the yummiest soul food ever! Before we moved to D.C. we tried going every year in July to celebrate our first date anniversary. After we were done and our way out, they invited us to have a free shot in the bar downstairs. We said yes and it was the nastiest shot ever! It was so strong and I felt the effects right away because I tripped on my feet when we were exiting the restaurant. I wish we would have never drank that. We then walked to the AMC on 42nd street and watch a X-Men movie that had just came out. (I should have known then he was a comic book head). Since it was a new release the theater got packed early. By the time we got in we had to sit in the first row right up front. I HATE seeing movies that close because you can never see anything. I admitted to my husband years later that I kind of fell asleep during the movie. Haha! It was almost midnight in my defense.

After the movies we were calling it a night and we were walking to my car so I can drop him back home since we lived in the same direction. We couldn't find the car and for a minute I thought we just forgotten were we had parked. After a while it dawned on me that the car must have gotten towed because I was certain I parked in that area. He went into a local bar just to ask because we found it weird that there were no cars parked outside that street. The guy at the bar said a tow truck came and took a ton of cars parked outside. Now anyone who's lived in NYC knows how confusing those parking signs are so I guess we misread the times it was ok to park there. I started to freak out and didn't know what to do. My husband called his cousin who worked for the NYPD at the time to help us out. All he needed was my license plate number and I honestly couldn't remember it at all. He told us where the nearest towing station was and said it had to be there. The towing station from where we were was about 20 blocks! At this point I was so mad so we decided to just walk to the towing station. Honestly in that walk we talked so much that I forgot I was upset about my car. I should have known then he was the one. To this day that is the dynamic of our relationship. I'm the one that freaks out and he's the one who calmly figures out any problems.
When we finally made it to the NYPD towing place we waited for a very long time. When the officer finally came back I was so relived to know my car was actually there. It cost $300 to get the car out. Apparently I missed the signed that said night cleaning and that's why I got towed.

My husband paid for the ticket, and I must say I must have been his most expensive first date ever lol. It's about to be 8 years since that day and I honestly still remember it like it was yesterday. I can't wait for Leah to ask us how did we meet and about our first date because it's such a great story to tell.
