Mixing My Old Wardrobe With New Pieces

I'm a big believer of repeating pieces because I love to challenge myself on how many different ways can I wear the same piece. The jacket, purse, and boots are old pieces that I have worn SO many times before. I mixed those old ones with some new goodies that were recently added to my wardrobe. These paisley printed pants and this soft white top from Mode de Vie are the perfect addition to my wardrobe. I've never been a huge fan of printed pants but these are so comfortable, I feel like I'm wearing leggings. The best part is that they are high-waisted and I don't know about you guys but high-waisted bottoms for me tend to high secrets. This mamma is still hiding the post baby weight! I'm also not a  big on mixing prints but the paisley print from the pants mixed well with the checked print from the jacket. Mixing old pieces from your wardrobe with new ones is a great wait to maximize your closet and also give your old pieces a nice refresh.

I shot this look a while a go and never got a chance to share it. It was a part of a Instagram collaboration but I loved the look so much I wanted to share it on here as a full post. If I look under bundled is because it was warm this day compared to now. The temperatures are freezing over here so I'll be sharing some winter looks here!

My Breastfeeding Journey

My breastfeeding during, lactation, new mom, moms who breastfeed, motherhood, mom bloggers, parisian looks

My breastfeeding during, lactation, new mom, moms who breastfeed, motherhood, mom bloggers, parisian looks

From the moment Leah was born that girl was a pro at latching! Breastfeeding was such a worry for me when I was pregnant. Was she going to latch? Would I have enough supply? Does it hurt? I had so many questions and worries. From the moment they put Leah on my chest and started wheeling me into my room after my c-section Leah just started looking for my breast and did the mouth motions of sucking. The ongoing joke in my family is that I was really pregnant for 50 weeks and she had extra time in there to learn things because she's so advance with things even from the minute she was born. If they only knew I definitely felt like I was pregnant for 50 weeks!

During her first few days of life while in the hospital my supply came in with no problem and she breast fed fine. I was so grateful for that. I still met with a lactation consultant at the hospital to have all my questions answered and make sure I was doing right. The hospital stay was honestly such a blur to me now because so much happened but I do remember Leah feeding on the clock every few hours. (You can read my labor & delivery story here). Once we were in the comfort of our home I enjoyed being home and was breastfeeding without interruptions or having to cover up like in the hospital with visitors and staff that kept coming in an out all the time.

Everything was going well for me until she started hitting a few growth spurts and went through a cluster feeding stage where I had to feed her on demand. That's when breastfeeding took a toll on me mentally. Man that was so exhausting. I felt like I just didn't have a break at all! As much as my husband helped me especially through those middle of the night sessions when she would wake up crying I had to wake up with him to breastfeed her. A few weeks after I finally started pumping when the lactation consultant from the hospital told me it was safe to. That definitely helped when I needed a break from feeding and had my husband do it but it created another problem for me. I wasn't pumping enough! My expectation was to breast feed Leah exclusively until she was 6 months so I was going to give it my all. I started to research lactation supplements like cookies, brownies, chocolate you name it. I found a combination of cookies and chocolate that worked for me and I started to see an increase in my supply. Pumping within itself is stressful it requires time and patience. I also felt like a prisoner. I felt like I couldn't go outside to have me time alone for too long because I had to be back home to pump. It took me a while to process and understand that. It may sound silly but that was a big thing to me as a new mom, many nights I cried trying to adjust to this new life.

During October of last year she was 2 months and we had a wedding to go to in NY for some friends. We were going to have my mother in-law take care of the baby while we attended the wedding and reception. Leading up to us traveling it got so stressful for me because I was pumping and breastfeeding on the clock trying to store supply to leave with my mother in-law while also feeding her at the moment. It ended up working out and I was able to pump enough to leave her while I went to the wedding. Now let's fast forward to Leah being 3 months old. My supply couldn't keep up with her demand anymore. After every feeding she was fussy and when I was pumping I didn't see much coming out. Another red flag was she wasn't gaining the weight at the pace she should have. She was always on the lower end of the scale at every check up. We decided to supplement her with 2 ounces of formula after every breastfeeding. I thought I was going to feel a certain type of way that already at 3 months postpartum I couldn't provide for her milk 100% but I didn't. We had to do whatever we had to do for her nutrition. I still kept pumping so that my supply wouldn't dry up but by now neither one of the lactation stuff was working for me. It's almost as if my body said you are done! I spoke with a friend who's a doula and a certified lactation consultant (information below) and she recommended power pumping to increase my supply. Let me tell you that was so much work. I gave it a try one day a couldn't keep up. I swear I always said pumping is like another full-time job.

By the time Leah was 4 months she was on 60% formula and 40% breast milk and I didn't even feel like it was worth it to keep breast feeding her. By now we had also found out the nutrients in my breast milk all along were not enough for her and that's the reason she was trailing in the weight chart. I made the decision to stop breastfeeding her and I felt like pure crap. I had so much expectation of exclusively breast feeding her until 6 months and then when I found out about my rare breast milk issue that's when I really felt bad. The minute I stopped breastfeeding her weight rocketed. I had support from my husband and my doula friend. They told me to look at the glass half full. I provided for her for 4 months and I was given a chance to bond with her through breastfeeding. That thought helped get over that feeling and she is now 100% formula fed and I'm ok with that. I do still feel a certain type of way sometimes when I see Instagram mom friends who gave birth around the same time as me and are still exclusively breastfeeding.

I still feel a bond with Leah and I'm enjoying every milestone with her as she's turning 6 months in a few weeks. This was my breastfeeding journey and if you made it to the end of this long post I appreciate it!

5 Skincare Products To Start The New Year

5 Skincare Products To Start The New Year, beauty bloggers, skincare solutions, dry skin, moisturizers, Cerave, Rodan and Fields, Murad, Rodial

It's the beginning of the new year and if skincare is your top priority this year then you are going to love this post. I'm sharing 5 skincare products I'm currently loving and they are just too damn good not to share. I always make skincare a priority because I always saw my mom take care of hers and she's aged very well. Heck people sometimes think she's my sister when we go out together. I always try to have a morning and night routine and these products I'm sharing with you guys today are on heavy rotation. I linked everything below plus a few extra favorites!

5 Skincare Products To Start The New Year, beauty bloggers, skincare solutions, dry skin, moisturizers, Cerave, Rodan and Fields, Murad, Rodial

I was introduced to this brand last year and received a ton of their products to try out. The moisturizing cream was my favorite because it really leaves my face super moisturized. After I had my daughter, Leah, my skin changed from super oily to dry. I never thought I would say my face is dry because all my life my skin was always oily. I use this moisturizer every single day after a shower and before my makeup. It's scent free and comes a very large tub. This thing will definitely last me a very long time. They also have baby products and I been using the healing ointment on Leah's bum after her showers. I linked this one below and also their micellar water because it's also a goodie!

If you saw this post on Instagram then you know I'm currently obsessing over facial sprays. One I recently tried was this one from Murad. I actually have been using their 3 part system in my nighttime routine including this mist and it smells so heavenly. It leaves my face super refreshed every time I use it and it's also great as a setting spray post makeup. It's a little on the high end side but their products are worth it.

I wasn't familiar with this brand until 2 years ago when I had the chance to try it. When I did more research they have a lot of high end skincare products. I tried a few and fell in love with the brand. I been using their collagen drops everyday for the past few months and I'm loving it. If you are not familiar with collagen it helps the elasticity on your skin. I don't know about you guys but I want to look forever young! I apply a few drops on my face before my makeup and even on my no makeup days I apply in the morning after I wash my face. The packaging is super cute and I'm a sucker for cute packaging. This one is also on the high end side. I also linked below their bubbly face mask which is under $10 that I also love!

One thing I want to work on more this year skincare wise are my under eyes!  I will be giving them lots of TLC this year because I feel I have the worst under eyes. I recently got introduced to this brand and so far I'm loving their products. I have been using two of their eye products including this bright eye complex (here). It's a hydrating gel cream and it helps with puffiness and dark circles. I'm the queen of dark circles especially after becoming a mom so this product is my best friend. I been using it in the mornings and night and it also works well with the new product below.

Another Rodan + Fields eye cream goodie is their multi-functional one (here). I apply a small amount under my eyes day and night as well and I already feel like I can see a difference. I always feel self-conscious without makeup and not because I don't like my bare skin but because of those annoying dark circles I have. Lately I have been noticing a difference and now I love being barefaced! I also love their makeup remover wipes. Check those out here

Pink, Grey, & Gold Baby Girl Nursery Room

A few months ago my family and I were able to move to a two bedroom unit in the same building. I absolutely hate moving but the space was something we needed. Man does a baby need a lot of things! It was a great opportunity and we converted the second room into Leah's nursery. It's great to have more space and as she's growing I love that she has her own space to play with her toys.

When it came to a theme I didn't really want to make it too specific but I knew I wanted the colors pink and gold since they look so beautiful together. The furniture in the room are a mix from Buy Buy Baby, Ikea, and Walmart. The first piece of furniture we ordered was the crib and everything just kind of came together. We looked into cribs that were convertible so she can have for a long time but one of our goals for 2019 is to become homeowners and if that wish comes true I know I will be doing her room entirely again. I love decorating! So we went with a less expensive crib that was practical and functional for us in the moment. This crib still converts but it's more of a simple style conversion. I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking to have a crib for a very long time. The price was great and worked for our short term plan. The crib wasn't part of a set so when looking for a changing table I tried to match it with the crib best as possible. I like this changing table because it has two levels to store all her essentials and I bought 3 baskets to organize them. I also added a changing pad on the top and if you read this post  then you know why.

For her clothes we bought a huge Ikea unit which was perfect when we were living in the small space because the closet space was limited but it worked out perfectly in her room now even though the room had a closet already. Leah was so blessed and received so many essentials and clothes during the baby shower so I used the Ikea unit to store her clothes she's currently fitting into 3-6 months clothes and I use the actual closet to store the clothes that don't fit her yet as well as storage for her backup essentials. I started this new thing on my Instagram and saved them on my highlights called "Daily Tutu Looks". I'll be sharing her everyday looks there. Even though we don't go outside everyday I still dress her up in the house so the clothes don't go to waste. I want to do an entire post on organizing her clothes that I think has worked well for me and can help you if you are looking on how to organize baby clothes.

The last big piece of furniture was a sofa which pulls out into a bed. I love sitting on there to read to her and my dog loves sitting there and waiting for me while I go in to change her diaper or just when I'm in there. It's the cutest thing! I also feed her on there sometimes and if she falls asleep during the day while being fed I can quickly transfer her to her crib. She still sleeps with me in our room in her bassinet but during the day she naps in the crib while I watch her on the monitor and she seems to nap longer when in her room.

Once all the big furniture came in everything else just came together. I added a few pictures around the room from my maternity shoot and I still have two empty frames I'm just undecided which pictures to add of her in them. Over the crib I added a personalized wall decal with her name. When I posted this on my stories, so many of you were interested in it! It's from Amazon and you can customize it and also change the colors. It's a great alternative to filling up a wall if you don't want to add any frames for safety purposes or make any holes to the wall. I also added a little library area because we love to read to her even when she was in my stomach. That 3 cube organizer use to be in my office space but I ended up not needing it any more and it became a great place to store her books!

I linked everything in this post and if it's not available I linked similar pieces!

Happy New Year! This is my first post of the year and it's all about outerwear. I'm sharing my favorite teddy coats because they are currently the trendiest piece of outerwear this winter. A teddy coat, pixie coat, or a fuzzy coat whatever you want to call them I'm sure you've seen a lot of girls wearing them. This is actually my first one and I must say they really do feel soft and cozy. My husband stated I look like the teddy bear on the Snuggle softener bottle which I thought was pretty funny. The one I'm wearing (here) comes in two other colors and it's under $30! It's always hard to look stylish and be warm during the winter unless you have a stylish piece of outerwear. I think the teddy coats meet both functionality and style. If you ask me, that's what I call best of both worlds.

Keep on scrolling I linked a ton of teddy coats at every price point below. How do you guys like this fuzzy piece of outerwear? Are you loving the trend or agree with my husband and feel like the Snuggle bear on the fabric softener bottle?

So Long 2018!

new years eve look, sequins, nye outfit ideas, 2019, end of year

new years eve look, sequins, nye outfit ideas, 2019, end of year

... and just like that the year is coming to a close! I swear the older I get the faster time seems to be going on by. How is it almost 2019?! By far this has been the best year because it's the year I became a mom. The best experience of my life! Most people don't know my story but my husband and I had been trying to get pregnant for a little over a year. Just when I was about to give up on all hopes of becoming a mom God blessed us. His timing is always right!

I have so many plans for next year both personal and work related. We are in the process of buying a house and I hope next year that dream comes true. Becoming homeowners has been something my husband and I have always talked about. We also want to do a little more traveling and show little Tutu the world. It won't be the easiest task but we can't wait! Work wise I want to create more content on here, definitely more on the visual side for Patty's Kloset. I have been prolonging this all year long but I hope 2019 I actually do it. Please let me know if you guys would be interested in that and what kind of videos you would like to see.

This will be my last blog post of 2018 so I want to thank you guys for all the love and support. Without you guys this creative space of mine wouldn't be where it is today. I want to wish you all an amazing 2019 full of love, happiness and health! Bring it on 2019, let's do the damn thing!

How To Practice Self-Care As A New Mom, cvs, aveeno products, mom bloggers, facial masks

Self-care is so important and it is even twice as important when you are a mom. I always heard the saying "taking care of yourself is taking care of your family", and I definitely understand that now! As a new mom it is hard to have a lot of me time but every so often I make the time and make sure to squeeze time for myself into my busy schedule.

Here's some ways you can practice self-care and how some have worked great for me.

Read a book
Getting lost in a book, even if it is a chapter a day, is a good way to escape the real world and enjoy time with yourself.

Waking up early
I am not a huge morning person but I love waking up before my family does to enjoy 20 minutes to myself while drinking a cup of coffee

Skincare
You guys know I am a huge makeup and skin care fanatic, so when I finally have my me time I love to have a long relaxing session with my favorite facial products. If you been following my blog for a while then you know I'm no stranger to the Aveeno family. I'm currently using and loving the AVEENO POSITIVELY RADIANT Maxglow Peel Off Mask and Micellar Gel Cleanser. The mask is so easy to use and I especially love that it's not messy. Just apply, let it dry for about 15-20 minutes, and then just peel off. No need to rinse! It's gentle on the skin and has no parabens so it won't clog your pores. The gel cleanser smells amazing and has rich-soy complex the helps keep skin feel hydrated and soft. It's part of the Positively Radiant collection and it helps give the skin a nice natural glow. Hover over the image below and get more product information and directly shop them from CVS!

I take my skincare game seriously because this Momma wants to look forever young. The AVEENO POSITIVELY RADIANT collection is designed to enhance your natural radiance and give your skin a lit-from-within glow. I'm all about that glow! I purchased these at my local CVS. I love that they have all my favorite beauty products and that there is a location so close to me. Make sure to stop by your local CVS because, until 12/30/2018, there's a BUY ONE GET ONE 50% off select Aveeno products.

Seriously, that hour of uninterrupted me time where I can enjoy my skincare routine, or 20 minutes to myself in the morning to enjoy my cup of coffee makes such a huge difference. I feel relaxed, refreshed, and ready for anything after that. Practicing self-care is very important and it comes in different forms for everyone. Make sure that, no matter how busy your life is, you take some time for yourself.

How do you practice self-care?

Gratitude Makes Way For Happiness

The year is almost coming to a close and I'm leaving 2018 with a grateful heart. So much has happened in this crazy year and I'm grateful for it all. The biggest thing being the birth of my daughter which has change my life so dramatically. I always heard having a baby is such a life changing experience but until I actually experienced it I didn't really understand that saying. I view the world differently, I've learned things about myself I didn't know I had in me and I've learned how to adjust to things and curve balls life throws at me.

If you've notice I haven't been posting as often as I use to on the blog and that was such a hard adjustment to get use to. It's hard to balance being a wife, taking care of another human being that depends on you, work especially when you don't have regular 9-5 hours and also take care of myself in the process. I've had many days where I just cry from frustration in trying to figure how to do it all and the reality is that you can't I'm slowly starting to understand that. I've started to view things with gratitude and I think that's helped me a little. I've realized I can't be superwomen and I also need to practice more self-care because I'm no good to anyone if I don't take care of myself. Things will get done when they get done. My life or time is not the same as before and will never be so I need to adjust and be ok with those adjustments.

I'm grateful I get to take care of the best little person ever, I'm grateful I get to be a wife to an awesome husband I'm grateful for the never ending to-do list, I'm grateful for the amount of work I have even when I can't balance it. I'm grateful for it ALL! It sounds crazy but it makes sense in my head. I truly believe gratitude makes way for happiness. It takes me a while to adjust to change and I'm glad I'm finally at this point where I've accepted the big changes in my life and have learned how to mange this with gratitude when they get hard.
