3 Baby Products I Could Have Skipped As A First Time Mom

3 Baby Products I Could Have Skipped As A First Time Mom, first time mom, baby products, mom bloggers, 3 month old

I've been a mom for 3 months now and I'm slowly starting to notice their's some baby products I haven't used or have found to be an issue for me. I remember when I was half way through my pregnancy and started making my registry list I was extremely overwhelmed with all the products to add. Some products I asked mom friends of mine if they recommended it but even if they said no I wanted to be extra prepared for my baby and I ended up just adding everything. If you're a first time momma reading this by no means am I telling you these products don't work. Every baby is different and these just didn't work out for me.

3 Baby Products I Could Have Skipped As A First Time Mom

1.Bottle Warmer
I remember going back and fourth with this one and asking so many mom friends of mine what they thought about this product. My reason behind second guessing this product was that if I warmed up my baby's milk in the house she would get use to that and when I gave her a bottle outside and I couldn't warm it up like at home she wouldn't take it. After two and a half weeks after she was born I started to pump and introduced her to the bottle because I knew I would get back to working soon. Since then she's never cared for warm milk. I've given it to her cold out the fridge and also at room temperature and she's content either way. The bottle warmer has sat on my counter and has not been used once.

2. Changing table with a cover
I purchased my changing table as a matching set with the crib and it's the ones that have three drawers for storage on the bottom and the changing table cover on top which you can put sheets on. I honestly hate it because I constantly have to wash those sheets because my daughter pees, spits up, and one time pooped on the changing table. I seriously wash those sheets almost everyday. I'm at the point where I took of the sheets and have her lay on the uncovered mattress. If she does dirty it I can just wipe it because the mattress has a plastic material. During my last trimester I was addicted to watching Youtube videos about labor and delivery and came across a Youtuber showing her nursery and notice she had a changing pad (like this) to change her son's diapers and I thought it was perfect. I don't have to put a cover and if it gets dirty it's easy to clean. I'm in the process of re-doing my daughters nursery and I'm going to order a changing pad to make my diaper changing life easier.

3. Wipe Warmer
This one falls into the same category as the bottle warmer. If I use nicely warm wipes to clean my daughters tush at home, I won't be able to do the same when I'm outside when she needs a diaper change. My mother in-law had purchased a wipe warmer for us and it ended up missing the plug part. I never followed up with it in finding the plug and I just started using the wipes as is on my daughter. I don't think my daughter minds it not being warm. Sometimes she cries and sometimes she doesn't. I honestly don't even think she cries because they are cold. It's just another product sitting in my shelf that hasn't used.

Are there any of you mommas out there that just didn't use or didn't like a baby product as first-time mom?

As always, thanks for reading!

  1. I bought several things that I really didn't need when my kids were babies. I admit, I was totally sold on them by THINKING that I had to have them.

  2. I think we're all guilty of getting things for our babies we don't need. At the time, they look like the best thing since sliced bread.

  3. I found that I didnt use the bottle rack or changing table much! I basically used my bed the most to change my kids!

  5. I think we are all guilty of buying things that we didn't need when a new baby comes into play. Funny thing though all those that you listed my wife and I ended up using the most. I guess my daughter liked things warm!!

  6. I can see how the bottle warmer and the wipe warmer wouldnt be as useful. Seems like a waste of money!

  8. Every mom's situation is different. What may be beneficial for one is obsolete for another. I never used any of the three items you mentioned either. I'm sure some find them useful though.
