This week marks 22 weeks in my pregnancy and my belly keeps growing. So far I been surviving off regular clothes and haven't caved in on any maternity clothes except for two pairs of jeans. I think jeans are a must to buy because that's just an impossible task with a growing belly. I've heard about the rubber band trick with the jeans but I think that's too much work for me!

I'm fortunate my second and third trimester will be during the spring and summer months so when I'm at my biggest I don't have to worry about coats and jeans. I plan on wearing a ton of airy dresses and flowy tops during those months. I'm definitely not saying wearing maternity clothes is a bad thing. Hey, I would probably end up wearing a maternity dress or two before my pregnancy ends but if you're a little iffy like me on spending too much money on maternity clothes (because they are not cheap) then I hope these little tips help you as they have been helping me.

-Size up
As of now, I have been sizing up on my tops, dresses, and tights. I went from a medium to a large. I would say some mediums still fit me but I prefer to have a little breathing room and just opt for a larger size. The beautiful polka dot dress in today's post is a large and I love the way it fits me with enough room for the bump. Being pregnant for me doesn't mean I have to sacrifice my style. This look is something I would have worn even if I wasn't pregnant just in a smaller size.

-Search through your closet
This was one of the best things I did, search through my closet! I found so many oversize sweaters and cardigans and can work with my growing belly and body changes. I found this white open front cardigan in the back of my closet and decided to through it over the dress. I hadn't worn it in a while because I felt it was too oversized and drowned my frame in it. It worked perfectly now with the bump!

-Shop smarter
When I shop at non-maternity stores I opt for things I can work with. Buying long tanks which I can then layer with a cardigan or a jacket and some tights. Also, skinny belts that I can throw over a shapeless dress to create a waistline above the bump.

Every women's body is different and grows differently throughout pregnancy so certain hacks might not work for you. I think the most important thing though is be proud of your bump. You are bringing life into this world so embrace it!
