National Blue & Green Day | Donate Life / Done Vida

The month of April is National Donate Life Month and, more specifically, today is National Blue and Green Day! Everyone is encouraged to wear blue and green to show unity towards those on a waiting list for a transplant. I love getting involved in causes like these and I love that I have this platform to be able to advocate on a bigger scale. Being an organ donor is so important because you have the power to donate life. If more people donated organs and tissues, more lives would be impacted.

Today everyone is encouraged to join the cause, whether you work at local restaurants, are a community organizer, or a part of the media. The goal of this cause is to help the success of organ, eye, and tissue transplants for those in need and to shed light on the extreme need to get registered donors. A transplant can save and transform the life of a person.

As you guys know, I'm a big Grey's Anatomy fan. One of my favorite episodes from Grey's Anatomy is the episode where the surgeons performed a string of surgeries and each procedure depended on the one that preceded it. I thought it was amazing how 8 strangers were willing to give up an organ in exchange for an organ to help their loved one in need. Although everyone that participated had something to gain in the exchange, there was one person in the group who was just donating and was not getting anything in return. I thought that was a beautiful thing.

Hope you guys enjoyed this post. Have a great weekend and don't forget to pull the blue and green out of your kloset!!
