Make it Pop

Monday, December 30, 2013

Happy Monday guys!
2013 is almost coming to a close! Any New Year's Eve plans? Resolutions?
I look forward to 2014 for many reasons; it's the year I'm getting married (cue the stomach butterflies) and I will, also, continue this fashion journey I decided to embark on. I hope it takes me to where my reality and  dreams meet.

Now let's get to today's outfit details.

I've always said your best outfits are the ones that just happen. lol. I was undecided on what to wear but wanted to keep warm while staying in style. This ended up being a simple outfit but I loved it. I'm a big stripe lover; that's why I couldn't leave this H&M long sleeved stripped dress when I saw it. I didn't take any pictures with out the jacket to show more of the dress because it was just too cold! However, I love reusing pieces and I will definitely wear it again when the spring approaches. I paired the dress with black tall thigh high boots. These boots are my go to boots and I've had them for years. I'm not sure if they'll make it to next year's Fall season. It's sad because I know eventually I will have to part ways with them lol.

To finish the look and keep it simple I wore a black over-sized bag, pea coat and a black floppy winter hat I got from my lovely mom as a birthday gift. I was super excited for this hat because it's so chic! The finish touch to this look was a bright yellow scarf to make the outfit pop. Fashion tip of the day: a simple pop of color can bring any outfit to life. If you're afraid to try color in your wardrobe and are always in the neutral color zone, try one item (such as a scarf) with a bright color. Baby steps.

The Bargainista

Sunday, December 29, 2013

Hi guys!
I wanted to do a different post today. I'm constantly asked ... you paid how much for that... how did you find that.... how do you find these deals. So I wanted to share a few of my tips on how I bargain. Let's face it, who doesn't like a good deal? Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with paying for a high priced item if its worth the quality and if it's going to be a piece that can be worn again and again. However, here are some tips on how I bargain and get more for my buck.

 In store

Whenever I go shopping in stores I always go to the sale section first if they have one. I like to start there because you never know what you can find. Sometimes I can find everything I came to look for in the store in the sale section. I feel people are very afraid of sales racks because they are never neat. If you have the patience, take your time and look through the racks, you'd be surprised at all the good stuff in those messy racks. Also, I've noticed that the early bird gets the worm literally. lol. A lot of department stores, such as Macy's and JC Penney, have morning sales but only until noon or a specific time. Don't be afraid to use coupons; my friends call me coupon lady. lol One of the best feelings in the world for me is knowing I saved myself money on a sale and on top of that with a coupon. Lastly, don't be afraid to take advantage of Holiday sales. There's always lots of mark downs during and around a holiday.

Online

Who else is an online shopping victim ? I l know I am. I love to take advantage of online deals. I always sign up for email coupons. You always get up to date sales plus sometimes for signing up with your email address they will give you a percent off your first purchase. So if you have more than one email address, there's your chance to get some percent off a few purchases. Also, before I check out online I always check for any coupon codes; sometimes they work sometimes they don't but it's always worth a try. RetailMeNot is a good website to get coupons online and for in store use.

I hope you guys enjoyed my how to bargain post!
If you have any crazy finds comment below I love hearing bargaining stories. :)

Dress Up Your Plaid

Hello everyone and Happy Sunday!
Can't believe there's only two more days left to the year. I feel like this year flew by! What's everyone's plans to bring in the new year ? Let me know either in the comments or on Twitter!

Now to today's outfit details.

Can I just start by saying that I'm so in love with pencil skirts? They have such a classy yet sexy look. I purchased this one from Charlotte Russe online. I love the length and color. It's the perfect color for the season so I knew it was going to come in handy. I also wore this skirt for Christmas Eve to celebrate with my family and everyone loved it! Of course, I had to tell them I got it for a bargain. lol.

I was undecided at first on what top to pair the skirt with. I paired it with this gray and coral plaid shirt. It wasn't until I started giving the outfit its finishing touches that I realized how much I dressed up this casual plaid shirt, and I loved it! To keep the simple classy look going I wore black pumps with a gold toe trim. To finish off the look I wore gold dangling earrings and a small studded gold clutch.  I wore my black pea coat from H&M, which I've had for over three years. I love pieces that will last me a long time and I definitely feel  that H&M's coats and jackets are worth their money because of this.

Love is the New Black

Friday, December 27, 2013

Happy Friday!
Hope every had a wonderful Christmas and got everything they wanted from Santa. :)

Now let's get to today's outfit post.

I took these pictures last weekend when it was unseasonably warm for December. I took advantage of the weather and broke into my plaid blazer from H&M that I had purchased on Black Friday for 7.95! I really love this blazer and can't wait to wear it again in the spring. I paired it with another fabulous find, a graphic shirt from Charlotte Russe. I was never into graphic tees but I'm noticing my love for graphic tees is slowly growing. lol. I decided to be a little daring and mix the graphic tee with the plaid. It's not something I would have normally done, but I like to try different things. I originally was going to wear a plain white shirt underneath with a noticeable necklace, but decided to try the graphic tee just to see how I would like it and I ended up loving the combo. I felt it gave my outfit a little edgy rocker vibe. Fashion Tip of the day: don't be afraid to mix different pieces or patterns you would've never thought to try. You never know if you'll like it, so it's always worth a try.

Something I've been dying for were a pair of Boyfriend style jeans. It's a little different than my usual style but I'm so glad I gave them a shot. I purchased them online from Asos, which is another different experience for me as well since I usually don't like to buy jeans online,  I like to try them on before I buy them because I always have a love/hate relationship when it comes to jeans fitting me correctly lol. Nevertheless, these jeans are very comfy and I love the way they fit. I wanted to give them a girly vibe so I paired it with my black ankle strap single sole sandals. The weather was perfect for them, It was a really spring teaser last weekend! To finish the look I wore my red over sized clutch to give the outfit a little color.

Heart of Gold

Monday, December 23, 2013

Happy Monday!
Welcome back to Patty's Kloset. :)
Did everyone enjoy the weekend weather? It was around 70 degrees in New Jersey, and it felt very weird. However, it was the perfect weather to get a  few shoots done. So now, lets get to today's outfit details.

I wanted to create a simple yet chic holiday look. I recently purchased these gold pumps from Shiekh Shoes. I'm very happy with my purchase because they fit very comfortable and the gold color is really pretty, especially for the holidays. I think I'm going to get a lot of use out of these shoes. I was even more excited because they were on sale for 18.99! (FYI, they are still on sale) There's only one thing I love more than shoes, and that's shoes on sale. lol.

I paired the gold shoes with brown printed pants. I love the silky material because it gives the outfit a very classy look together with the shoes. I wore a plain oxblood color shirt, to fit the holiday theme I was going for, underneath a white blazer with gold details. I can't stress enough how versatile blazers are; they can be paired with pretty much anything and always add a finishing touch to an outfit.
To finish off the look I wore gold accessories. I wanted a chain that would make the outfit stand out without saying too much, so I went with a gold rope chain. The gold clutch was the last touch of gold my outfit needed to complete the look.

Blogger's Holiday Soiree Recap

Saturday, December 21, 2013

Hi Loves!

I wanted to recap and share with you the Blogger's Holiday Soiree I went to this past week. Plus I want to share with you some exciting news at the end of this post. :)

First off, I was so excited to attend, so thank you to Lillie Morales-Torres for putting the event together. It was my first social event to meet other bloggers face to face, network and mingle as an actual blogger. It took place in Hoboken, NJ and the turn out was amazing for it being a Thursday night and around the holiday madness. There were some bloggers and motivational speakers talking about their journey, about how they became bloggers, and they shared some awesome advice on how to blog, connect with brands and network. I thought it was pretty amazing because as a beginning blogger I do have the fire and passion for fashion and starting out can be a very slow process but everything happens at it's time. You can't rush it and you have to let things happen naturally. If not, it will never work. That was one of the many words of wisdom I took home with me that night. I left the Soiree feeling motivated and inspired. I had so many ideas swimming  in my head on my drive home, from goals to things I want to do with my blog because of my passion for fashion.

Here are some of the pictures from the night, with some of the bloggers and guest speakers.

These were the bloggers and guest speakers.

It was such an amazing night. I got to me a lot of humbling and inspiring people, I wouldn't have changed anything.

I wish I could've taken a more detailed picture of my outfit but there so many people it was even hard to move around. lol. The picture above was as detailed as I could get.
I wore a black faux leather skater skirt with a plaid shirt. I accessorized the outfit with my bright green necklace from Charlotte Russe, which everyone loved! :)

Now for my exciting news! I recently got picked as a fashion contributor on Joonbug to write fashion articles every week. I'm super excited and grateful for the opportunity. Be sure to check out my articles every week under the blog/style & fashion section.  Here's a direct link to my first article from this week - Fashion Trends of 2013 .

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend and thank you so much for all of the support with my blog!

Casual Denim

Thursday, December 19, 2013

Happy Thursday!
I originally took these pictures before our double snow storm and freezing temperatures, in case you're wondering were all the snow went. lol. I never got around to posting it, so I wanted to make a quick post on this casual denim on denim outfit.

This was a very casual and comfy outfit I put together. Sometimes you need a break from the heels. You've already seen this chambray top in a few previous posts; I wasn't lying when I said its a very versatile top. :) This time I paired it with some jeans to give the outfit a more relaxed look. I like to pair denim on denim. I wanted to add some neutral tones to the outfit, so I wore brown tall boots. I like the detailing on the back with the zipper because I really think it gives the outfit a cool vibe. I wore my faux fur vest;  I felt that was the little pick me up this outfit needed. I didn't accessorize much because I wanted to keep this outfit as casual as possible. To complete the outfit, I wore my brown bag from H&M. I've given this bag a lot of use considering it was a fast impulse purchase in the Black Friday madness. lol

Sorry for the short post guys, but it's been a very busy week. I wanted to make sure I posted for you guys though :).
I am very excited to go to my first Blogger Soiree today. I'm very excited to meet all the bloggers and hear all the motivation talk. I'm, also, hoping to make friends and network.

Hope you guys are having a great week!

Holy Chic

Monday, December 16, 2013

Happy Monday loves!
Hope everyone had a great weekend. I definitely did, I celebrated my birthday on Sunday. Despite the crazy snow storm we had here in New Jersey I tried to make the best out of my birthday weekend.  I wanted to share with you my birthday outfit details.

HOLY CHIC, am I in love with this sweatshirt! lol Graphic tops have been trending for a while now, and I love them. I snagged this one online from Charlotte Russe. I love the color and material; it's safe to say it kept me warm in style. I dressed up the graphic sweater a bit by wearing it with my faux leather skater skirt. Fashion Tip of the day: don't be afraid to dress up your graphic top. It can be worn so many ways and you can dress it up with heels, give it a rocker edgy look, or dress it down with some winter boots. I went with more of a girly vibe. Originally I had planned to wear this outfit with my neon pink pumps to give the outfit a pop of color but because of the snow I decided to play it safe with some flat thigh high boots. However, I still wanted some color that would make the outfit stand out. I went with my teal mini purse. To accessorize my outfit, I wore a pink gem necklace.

I'm not a big fan of snow but I must admit I'm loving the winter wonderland ambiance the snow gave my pictures. :) I hope you guys enjoyed today's post. Remember to click "join site" so you can keep up with what to find in Patty's Kloset. :)

Studded

Wednesday, December 11, 2013

Happy Hump Day!
It's a winter wonderland over here in New Jersey with all this snow this week and there's still more coming for the weekend. Let's hope it doesn't snow on my birthday, but I guess that's the disadvantage of being a December baby. lol

Now to today's outfit post!

I'm feeling STUDDED in these amazing peep toe booties from Charlotte Russe. Best of all, I snagged them up on a sale. Fashion tip for the day: On Tuesdays, it's Shoesday at Charlotte Russe, which means 40% off selected shoes. Shoes plus a sale is a great combo if you ask me. I love how these booties are versatile; they can be worn with jeans, skirts, and faux leather leggings. That's how I paired them in this post. I wanted to give it a more dress up party vibe. I wore a black sheer top to go with the leggings. The leggings have a gold trim zipper in the front, which I love because it makes the leggings less of a casual piece of clothing. To add a pop of color, I added a pastel watermelon color blazer. This was a gift from a close friend, actually. I will post where to find a similar one below. Blazers are another flexible piece to have in your closet, because (like I said in other posts) they seriously can go with everything. I'm a blazer girl, and they are chic and give finishing touches to an outfit. To finish off the look, I accessorized with a gold clutch and gold necklace.
